First off, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I've been putting off blogging lately as I felt it would be a disservice to any readers. I've been cheating with cheese, though yesterday I restocked my fridge to get myself back on track.
I don't particularly have any new recipes. I'm currently on a quest to perfect a vegan hollandaise sauce as eggs benedict (sans the ham) was my favorite breakfast before I went vegan. The eggs I can live without, but the sauce... What a dream! If any of you know any good recipes please share them with me and I will definitely give them a shot!
After the holidays I purchased a copy of Vegan Yum Yum, which I must say has to be the first vegan book that almost every recipe made my mouth water. I've only made one recipe from it so far (The chickpea and artichoke salad), but I think to help keep myself on the ball I'll challenge myself to cook (and eat) my way through it.
As sort of a follow-up to my last entry, I found another website with information about foods you might not suspect actually contain animal product: Surprising Non-Vegetarian Foods.
I was actually at a Japanese market the other day, picking up some skin care products (I like Japanese products because I feel like they target more of the areas that I have concerns with my skin, and that they actually work unlike most American products). I've been trying to be more aware of animal testing in what I consume, but I must admit, I'm hardly fluent in Japanese (only the basics), so I was unable to tell if the particular brand I purchased did testing or not. I'll have to do some research to see if I can find any information...
Yesterday I was fortunate enough to exchange a christmas gift for a Kitchen Aid Ice Cream maker, which I'm VERY excited to play with (and I get to use the ice cream scoop my friend Stephanie bought me for Christmas <3). I have a book full of ice cream recipes called The Vegan Scoop and I can't wait to try some of them out. I also bought a boba starter kit last night, which includes everything I need to satisfy my daily cravings! I love Milk Tea boba, but I have yet to make it myself and make it vegan at that. So, a lot of new and exciting things to come. Expect recipes! ;)
